Key Job Activities
To be aware of, and responsive to, the differing needs of all sections of the community
To provide a professionally appropriate response to assessed need and to help identify and advise on the effective use of resources
To carry out the statutory obligations of the Department
To manage an allocated workload within individual and departmental priorities and procedures, in accordance with Council policies
To liaise and negotiate with other social work teams, colleagues in other establishments, statutory, voluntary and private agencies
To comply with department administration procedures and maintain appropriate records of work undertaken
To liaise with designated line manager and to comply with departmental requirements regarding supervision
To participate in training courses and undertake student supervision and training of others where appropriate
Responsibilities
To understand and respond effectively to the needs of people with mental disorder and their families/carers
To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
To work within a multi-agency approach and contribute to the planning and implementation of the Care Programme Approach
To be aware and keep informed of, current mental health legislation and Government guidance.
To effectively represent the social work role and work alongside Health professionals both in hospital and community settings.
To carry out assessment activity as appropriate, and subject to management agreement, to commission service in line with departmental eligibility criteria and protocols.
To be aware of and actively promote the Borough Council’s vision and values through social work activity.
