<p>Adoption and Permanence</p>
<p>Join us in our Children’s Services Transformation Programme. Additional resources are available to East Sussex Children’s Services to help us invest in early help and intervention for our children, young people and their families. We are at the start of this ambitious programme and are currently recruiting a Senior Practitioner (Post Adoption Support) to the Adoption and Permanence Team.</p>
<p>The Adoption and Permanence Team has a county-wide remit. The service is responsible for recruitment, preparation and assessment of perspective adopters, family finding, linking and matching of children; assessment and provision of post adoption support for children and adopted adults. We are inviting experienced social work professionals to apply for positions to work alongside highly motivated social work staff. You will need to have excellent assessment skills, the ability to work flexibly and to deadlines and be able to contribute to the success of a high achieving team. You will receive excellent supervision, training and support.</p>

<p>You will play a key role in ensuring that Every Child Matters outcomes are delivered and improved for children in need, with a clear focus on those in need of protection and the wider safeguarding agenda. Developing strong links with the Local Children’s Service Partnership will be vital to this, as will providing effective leadership to a team of Social Workers and support staff.</p>
<p>The requirements</p>
<p>Qualified to degree level with GSCC registration, you will bring extensive post-qualification experience within social care. This will include professional supervision or project management, policy and practice formulation, and budget management. Fully aware of recent research and national initiatives impacting on children’s social care, you will have the ability to work collaboratively with key partners in the statutory, private, and voluntary sectors.</p>

<p>In charge of a diverse Children and Families caseload to include complex cases, you will undertake assessments and reviews, prepare welfare reports, and attend court. You will be faced with difficult and distressing situations, but you’ll take them in your stride as you contribute to initiatives, develop close working relationships with other agencies, and support clients and carers.</p>
<p>The requirements</p>
<p>A qualified social worker with a degree in Social Work or equivalent and registration with the GSCC, you will have considerable and relevant experience of carrying a children and families caseload. Reliable, resourceful, and resilient, you will have the ability to write clear and concise reports. A strong understanding of the needs of looked-after children, children in need, and children in the Child Protection system will also be essential.</p>

<p>East Sussex, TEALS (Traveller and English as an Additional Language Service) is seeking to appoint an experienced person to coordinate a peripatetic team of teachers and welfare officers who provide dedicated support for the education of Traveller children across East Sussex.</p>
<p>The main purpose of the job is to manage and organise the Traveller Education Team in order to ensure Gypsy and Traveller children receive their education entitlement and make good progress.</p>
<p>The successful candidate should enthusiastically accept the challenge of improving the educational outcomes for Traveller children and, to that end, will need to have high expectations and excellent interpersonal skills.</p>
<p>This post will be based in Hailsham but the successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they can meet the necessary travelling requirements of the post.</p>

<p>The Role</p>
<p>We have a vacancy for a Senior Child Protection Lawyer. You should have at least 3 years post qualification experience as a solicitor or barrister in conducting complex care and adoption work. The successful candidate</p>
<p>will need to demonstrate good advocacy skills and be able to handle a heavy caseload and manage and lead a team of lawyers and support staff.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As a senior practitioner, you will be expected to hold a complex caseload, where your proven social work experience will enable you to be able to demonstrate clear risk assessments and excellent decision making skills. You will also play a vital role supporting the team and offering case advice and consultation in the absence of the team and assistant manager.</p>
<p>As an experienced Social Worker with the full post qualifying award who is registered with the General Social Care Council, you will have experience of working with child protection cases, care proceedings, Looked After Children and complex child in need cases. You will also have a sound knowledge of relevant child care legislation, good report writing and communication skills. This may be your first experience as a senior practitioner.</p>
<p>Our Over 11’s team is a stable and supportive team who are very committed to achieving the best outcomes for the families and young people we work with. We will welcome a new member of the team and do everything possible to help you settle in. A recent 2 day Ofsted Survey was very positive about the support we provide to staff.</p>

<p>Undertaking your own advocacy over a variety of cases, you’ll provide a high quality litigation and advice service to the Children’s Safeguarding and Specialist Services Department and its Director. As well as preparing cases you’ll work with Counsel when they are instructed in matters before the High Court, County Court and Magistrates Court. You’ll investigate and advise on the implications of changing legislation, case law guidance and policy too. And, in addition to advising at Legal Planning meetings, you’ll make recommendations to the Assistant Chief Legal Officer on improvements to procedures and practice.</p>
<p>Your post-qualification experience should include dealing with a broad range of childcare litigation cases. And, as well as a good knowledge of legal matters in childcare litigation, you should have a solid grounding in advocacy. You must also be able to work well both as part of a team and on your own initiative.</p>
