Northampton Borough Council has ambitions to be among the best Councils in terms of public service by 2013, and it can only achieve this with a forward-thinking, customer-facing Democratic Services team to support, enhance and promote the Council’s decision-making processes.

We are looking for two bright and enthusiastic team players, who excel at providing excellent customer service and contributing new ideas. Applicants will need a high standard of communication skills (both written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to respond positively to pressure, meet tight deadlines and the confidence and initiative to manage their own workload.

It goes without saying that this politically restricted post requires an awareness of and sensitivity to the political environment of committee administration.

If you feel you have the relevant comparable experience of supporting formal meetings, and most importantly a can-do attitude and an eagerness to deliver excellent customer service in a demanding and ever-changing environment, we look forward to receiving your application.

Ultimately, your salary will depend on experience, knowledge and the level of duties you are able to undertake so we are expecting interest from a wide range of applicants. You will be required to attend evening meetings for which time-off in lieu will be given.

The Council operates a flexi-time scheme.

Closing date: 17th September 2010.

Interview date: w/c 27th September 2010.
