Providing skills and training opportunities for young Londoners
We are working to give young Londoners skills and training opportunities that are as varied as they are.
Accessible opportunities for every young Londoner
We are committed to ensuring that we provide opportunities for all of London’s young people to develop their skills and contribute to London’s success.
Our colleges and universities make us the world’s number one city for higher education, generating over £10 billion a year in goods in services and educating almost half a million students a year – 90,000 of them from over 200 countries around the world. Our programme of new academies will open up opportunities for young people in some of London’s disadvantaged areas, helping young people at risk and letting them show what they can do.
London’s apprenticeship provision has historically been poor, but we are bringing more and better apprenticeship opportunities to the capital. We’re supporting private sector apprenticeships, and encouraging wider recognition of the value enthusiastic young people can offer to companies. And we’re working to make more places available in the public sector, both directly and indirectly, in partnership with organisations like Transport for London and the Metropolitan Police.
